Hand Poked Tattoo in NOSARA

Handpoking tattoo artist in Nosara since 2019
Tattooing without a machine. There are multiple techniques that can be called hand poked, from ancient ways with a hammer and thorn to bamboo pokes. In my case it means I hold a tattooing needle (used for tattooing machines) in my hand and dip it in ink and tattoo you! I personally like the pace, and it is often experienced as more relaxed.
January 1st 2025 I opened a shared tattoo and art studio in North Guiones, you can find the location at the bottom of this page!
How do I work?
DESIGN
There are 3 ways I mostly work with my clients in terms of designs:
– You pick a design from my pre-drawn available drawings
– Custom design
– You have your own design that I tattoo on you (I might make adjustments on request or to my style)
CUSTOM DESIGN PROCESS
If you would like me to make a custom design for you there are some things that help the process:
– You can simply tell me some key-words, give a size indication and I will get back to you with a sketch (for bigger and intricate designs I will ask for a retractable fee to start drawing)
– In addition it helps if you send me some of the designs (of mine, or other inspiration) you like, so I get an understanding of the direction of what you like.
– I send you a sketch or a drawing, and we go from there. We will always discuss prices before the tattoo appoinment.
FRIENDS – GROUPS – RETREATS
I’m always happy to accommodate tattooing multiple people. It usually turns in to a super fun time as everyone hangs out while getting tattooed one by one.
Help me prepare:
– Everyone can message personally with their idea
– Or: one person can take charge and send me all the idea’s
Either way I will get back with prices and then send the designs to make sure every one is happy.

Since I was young my creativity has been running my activities, and I just haven’t stopped. I love to see my skill and style morph and grow informed by inspiring landscapes, animals, people and life experiences.
Originally from the Netherlands I moved to Nosara in 2018.
I went to school for wood working and fine furniture conservation and interestingly find tattooing, in terms of fine motor skills not as far off at it might seems. It requires pacience, care and concentration for extended periods of time and combined with endless creativity and love for people it works out perfectly!
How I got into tattooing:
A dear friend asked me to learn how to tattoo already so I could tattoo her! So I did. Many generous and exited friends here in Nosara trusted me with my first tattoos and 5 years later I look back on what a gift this has been, they saw my artistry and trusted my steady hand into a beautiful career!
I do not take this trust lightly and truly attempt to make every poke my best one. It is always a great honor to create art for life.
One of my other loves is singing, making music. And if you are here in Nosara, Costa Rica, maybe you can catch me around town playing solo or with my band ‘After Surf’!
I also tiressly paint, usually animals or what ever inspires! I have been know to make logo’s or other graphics as well and have my paintings for sale in shops around town or through social media or this website.
